Partial & Complete Dentures

Rediscover Your Smile: Embrace Dentures, Embrace Confidence!

Dentures are removable dental appliances designed to replace missing teeth and restore oral function and appearance. They are custom-made to fit comfortably in the mouth and are typically made of acrylic resin, sometimes with metal attachments for added support.

At Newport Family Dentist, we will discuss with you the different types of dentures and what may suit your circumstances. Examples of dentures we offer include:

Full Dentures

Also known as complete dentures, these replace all of the teeth in the upper or lower jaw, or both. They consist of a flesh-coloured acrylic base that sits over the gums and supports a set of artificial teeth. Full dentures are held in place by suction or dental adhesive.

Partial Dentures

Partial Dentures

They are used when some natural teeth remain in the mouth. They consist of replacement teeth attached to a metal or acrylic base that matches the colour of the gums. Partial dentures are held in place by clasps (hooks) that attach to the remaining natural teeth.

Immediate Dentures

These are inserted immediately after the remaining natural teeth are extracted. They are pre-made and placed in the mouth on the same day as the tooth extraction procedure. Immediate dentures help maintain the shape of the mouth and allow patients to have teeth while waiting for permanent dentures to be made.

Flexible Valplast Dentures

Flexible Dentures

Also known as valplast dentures, are made of a flexible, lightweight material that bends and flexes with the natural movements of the mouth. They are more comfortable to wear and less likely to break than traditional acrylic dentures.

Each type of denture has its own advantages and considerations, and the best option for you will depend on factors such as the number of missing teeth, the condition of your remaining teeth and gums, and your personal preferences. Your dentist will work with you to determine the most suitable type of denture to meet your needs and restore your smile.

What do I do if my pre-existing denture has broken?

We offer emergency denture repair and aim to provide you with your denture promptly, if not, on the same day if it is possible. Based on the assessment, the repair method will depend on the type and severity of the damage. Common issues that may require emergency repair include broken or cracked dentures, loose or missing teeth, and damaged clasps or attachments.

We aim to effectively address damage to your denture so that you can resume normal function and appearance as soon as possible. Contact us today for further information.
